Melodies of Gallipoli

Melodies of Gallipoli brings the human stories of the Gallipoli campaign to life through sweeping msuic, narration, & visuals.

Melodies of Gallipoli is a powerful symphonic production that brings to life the human experiences of the Gallipoli campaign through music, narration and visual storytelling. Blending history with artistry, the production invites audiences to reflect on one of the most defining chapters shared by Australia and Türkiye. Following its sold-out premiere in Melbourne, the production now comes to Sydney, bringing this moving experience to new audiences.

Written by renowned Turkish author Prof. İskender Pala, the work approaches Gallipoli not only as a historic battlefield, but as a profound human journey shaped by courage, loss, hope and resilience. Through narration inspired by letters, memories and reflections from the time, the story unfolds through the voices of soldiers, families and nations forever changed by the events of 1915.

At the heart of this extraordinary production is a 35-piece Australian orchestra conducted by İskender Ozan Toprak, performing a score that blends classical symphonic writing with rich cultural influences. Joining the orchestra are special artists from Türkiye — acclaimed vocalist Çimen Yalçın, celebrated folk singer and bağlama virtuoso Hulusi Gökmeşe, and legendary zurna master Halil Çokyürekli.

Audiences will be swept away by a captivating repertoire including Gallipoli (The Foggy Dew – Irish Traditional), The Cliffs of Gallipoli, Waltzing Matilda, Çanakkale İçinde (inside Gallipoli), Ağlamasın Anam (Don’t Cry Mother) and more.
