Formerly the ‘Rum Hospital’ – built for the cost of 45,000 gallons of rum – The Mint was originally part of Governor Macquarie’s ‘Rum’ hospital for convicts and later became the first branch of the Royal Mint outside London. Today the Mint is home to the Caroline Simpson Library & Research Collection, the Bullion café, the Bullion Bar & Dining restaurant, and a spectacular series of venue hire spaces. With free entry to the Mint and the Caroline Simpson Library, come and explore!
