Warrane Exhibition

Curated by the National Museum of Australia, the Warrane exhibition is named after the Gadigal word for Sydney Cove.

The Warrane exhibition at 1 Elizabeth is centred around the idea of place, exploring Gadigal custodianship of Country and the influence that Lachlan and Elizabeth Macquarie had on the physical shape and identity of Sydney.

By exploring the evolution of Sydney from both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal perspectives, Warrane acknowledges the negative effects of British occupation whilst depcting the agency and resilience of Aboriginal people in the area over time.
